Forma parte de MFC Crew, one of the crews with more experience in the country (look at our video about graffiti they did). And not only unfolds there: it has large portfolio of artwork and commissions. It is also beginning to dabble in the gallery world. This talented young Ecuadorian we have much to say about their origins, tastes and inspirations, so I read! As always, your comments are always welcome!
The early in the illustration, how do you start?
Enlightenment to me is a long process during which the artist will be turning on to give birth to their ideas, began to correspond with illustration techniques from the school and the University got involved with digital art, I draw since I can remember, I have vague memories of my father showing me his works of architecture at 3 years of age, following years he painted many watercolors and exercising of caricature was dropping his hand, was largely self-taught but I was always encouraged by artists who appeared strategically in my life, I met Patricio Cidel workshop to 8 years and I think that struck me much, fixative sprays oil seemed the latest advancement in technology, see drawers completely filled with cakes and oils are chromatically arranged and ordered the most striking images from my childhood.
at that time I had decided I wanted to be an artist or whatever it means to live to paint. The first place was a student of drawing or painting was one of the holiday arts workshops in the municipality that is taught at the ranch in Cotocollao bliss. At school we were given art classes and participated in internal competitions of painting, I took an oil painting workshop in the house of culture at 16 and nothing else, there was not much budget for my expensive tastes were artistic yet great economic efforts to support my mother their children artists to which I responded with hours of practice and thousands of hours of flight lessons.
The direct influence of graffiti in my neighborhood, Cotocollao was crucial to define not only an artistic style but a lifestyle, skateboarding, album covers of adolescence, videogames, etc. are my biggest influences, the illustrations of skateboards influenced me a lot, the advertisements for the famous magazine Transworld, illustrations in Speed \u200b\u200bDemons, World Industries, or Acme Alien Workshop were fascinating for my designs, I think the strongest visual link they still keep the picture of a writer called for a skater Kew call Keith Hufnagel, published in Transworld in 1998, that's when I learned that's called graffiti, and there are hundreds of gambler and styles are much better, that's when I said "then I want to be graffiti" .
StyleFile parts and some other magazines as they were just Backspin knowledge and possession of graffiti only 4 or 5 friends I had at the time (Ferro, Cone, Jason or shirt), because the Internet does not it was like today, in fact these magazines have not come to the country if not in the trunk of a colleague who came from travel, and also comics like Spiderman, Spawn, Wild Cats, Turok, and everything I could to "Wildside" was my inspiration, trying to draw everything I saw was a sound doctrine, in subsequent years with internet access to the world opened up to me completely and trends of the time, marked with everything look "urban" defined my interest much visual, conceptual art of science fiction films I scored a lot of experimentation of artists like Mike Ordonez are part of my breakfast daily chart up to date, within the techniques I facilitated the understanding of the airbrush and digital are exercising continuously for 4 years, many t-shirts and car paint as a way to support my studies since 2004.
I am now seeking my stylized version of the anime, especially the "kwai" seems super fun caricature as a way to wave to people, one of my friends, "Wilo" was who first taught me techniques digital illustration and opportunities to mix with all that has been doing in the walls, seeking to create strong and aesthetic pieces stickers for me was defining, for the formal synthesis of my illustrations were much more functional than aesthetic, as he sees them from far enough and too much, then take them to the wall to the dimensions requested details and that's what led to the computer now, I hope increasingly defined, however what I see today is something that I personally very much, so much so I rodeo always my cartoons, stickers either where you go, murals or prints to decorate my cubicle a little.

His style, how did you get that?
Many people tell me that he likes my style and tell them which one?. Because in reality I think that there is no consolidated a style yet, still in the search for life, but I think for a young artist is not good to marry without experiencing other style therefore is not my interest to have "my style" even, is the evil of the new artists believe that 1 to 2 years of practice is defined style, but rather are beginning to know their limitations and strengths. Hyperrealism have passed since even the most Naif and Expressionist, depending on the people that surrounded me I could take advantage of their experience and skills (if you have ever played "Getting up" a play by Mark Ecko and Atari, could understand a little more than it is for me the way to define the style, in this metaphor I would like "Trane" and my friends are the Kings of who I using new techniques to become an "all city").
For example, in the College David Cevallos was my best friend and arch nemesis, a fellow artist who drew Punk super detailed characters, the clean line was one of the first things I try to emulate to define but my drawings, Jason and the other taggers taught me to improvise, and memorize much gear before putting them into the wall without sketches, later working with Wilo in BLG and some independent projects I learned a lot to appreciate comics and street art and graphic capabilities that support the design, have those cutting ideas letters on cardboard and then make stencils of those details, scan them and then integrate them into the digital are things that never would have developed without the support and uninhibited artistic patronage that characterized him, I have seen the ease with which bocetea forming tremendous stories with "simple pen" with a unique freshness and without asking anyone's permission.
On the other hand, Paul Pincay has influenced me hyper perfection in the care of the anatomical details, the details of the degradation esquicito ballpoint pen, the arts of thousands of hours of patience, more impressionistic colors, creating photo-realistic characters, before I met did not know existed such artists in the country. Another person who influenced me the style is Cristina Pozo, another fellow illustrator and traveling companion, very detailed and meticulous designer who has influenced me especially in such details "feminine" than that of the social construction of gender throughout evade a life, things are characters drawing super sweet round eyes and almost geometric figures to summarize certain anatomical complexities of the things I believe, all that influence is a glue that helps me make contrast to these monsters, demons, robots and things I go by default, the result of many movies and eighties contemporary fiction.
illustration and design of user interfaces for Mac and some games make me as the most influential in the finished graphics: I am a fan and developer of special effects, I think I have as an ideal set and propose a more beautiful future through science and aesthetic functionality, less pollution by more robots that can inform our lives, a follower of Kubrick, Spike Jonze, Tarantino, (and enemy of Burton), closely linked to culture popular in the West, especially in the graphic chaos born in Europe over the graffiti as 123 Klan, Flying Fortress, London police, Bansky and other revolutionary design.
I also believe that can be exploited through illustrations not only manners but from a symbolic refocusing build Ecuadorian culture icons without the need to generate ideas for speeches or generate only aesthetic, graphic design must open that polish space and can collaborate with their visions, from places never before exploited, we are so graphically rich that contains both style, to the final style for me is the most important message.
What do you think is the future of the artwork in the country? My
industry benchmark is closer Bogotá, I see us more organized, great things are happening in the art, in the center, in the gallery, graphic design, academic, experimental, are merging in the country many experts graffiti artists, typographers, illustrators, crazy, sane, and so on. leaving school and that this chart, I see an improvement in festivals, still feels competition, but the maturity of the new artists will develop a lot, I love to see designers and illustrators from the litter of Montalvo, Ayllon, Pincay, Pico , Cornejo, Villacis, etc., meet and enjoy as the college with his jokes and other stuff in common, emerging artists are going to be wearing these stages of maturity where competition becomes alliances and impulses, as this space for example, that will be very good and is very good now, talent is there, we land in Ecuador the hands of gold and wings dreaming, that's our heritage, just a matter of us begin to relate and stripping of rivalries and cultural segregation, it is likely that in this way is start talking about Ecuadorian style quickly is only a matter of time, but yes, a lot of hard work.
Some data in particular would like to share the public, that is not within our interview subjects. Only
hereby thank the invisible displaying emerging illustrators, this is very important to prevent inches artists with access to the outside world continued and chubby and others to share media, because without real competition is not so easy to motivate yourself, there is no real references and loses track of important artists, congratulations and forth.
